The East Tennessee History Center

This week was mostly about learning the staff manual and reading through some other literature Doris wanted to make sure I knew.

The rest of my three days at the archive this week were spent following Doris around as she went about her work at the archive, mostly manning the reference desk where all manner of requests are made. Many lawyers come in requesting case documents, and there are several local genealogists that have been there all three days I've been there. There have also been groups of daycare children brought in to learn about the archives that Doris gives little talks to, but they are not allowed to go back into the closed stacks, the museum downstairs is a better destination for them right not.

My next day at the archive, this coming Wednesday, Doris is taking me to the old county courthouse for a tour and to see how the courts manage their records before they come to the archive!
